Drug Delivery

At drug delivery front, I have worked on different modes of drug delivery including jet injectors and tattooing for transdermal drug delivery to studying ophthalmic drug delivery (deposition and spreading of eyed drops on front of the eye-replica). We have developed anunderstanding the hydrodynamics of needle-free jet injectors to improve the delivery efficiency of these devices. From Ph.D. to postdoc, I have continued to expand on my research in this area. My Postdoc work in drug delivery is based on delivering mRNA/DNA vaccines via ultra-low-cost electroporators.

Organismal Biophysics

Micron to metre scale organisms exhibit marvelous mechanisms and structures to perform unique functions. By studying these mechanisms, current engineering designs have potential of improvement. Bioinspiration and biomimicry has immensely benefited the science and engineering. During my postdoc, I have worked on a variety of projects in the realm of organismal biophysics: from water walking insects, viscoelastic jetting in termites, to feeding in flamingoes. These organismal studies inspire ideas to benefit the additive manufacturing, drug delivery and efficient designs of amphibious microrobots.
